We are thrilled to share the successful completion of the Erasmus+ LiveLobal Project’s Learning, Teaching, and Training Activity in Athens, Greece 🇬🇷  which took place between May 14 and May 18, 2026.

Hosted beautifully by the 8th Primary School of Nea Filadelfeia, international teams comprising students and teachers from Poland 🇵🇱, Romania 🇷🇴, and Turkey 🇹🇷 gathered to implement the highly anticipated “Eco-Friendly Hobby Garden” activity. The 5-day program seamlessly combined cutting-edge STEAM practices with rich cultural heritage experiences.

📅 Day-by-Day Highlights of the Mobility

Day 1: Warm Welcomes, STEAM, and Soil Care

The mobility kicked off with the heartwarming essence of Greek hospitality. Our hosts welcomed the international delegations with traditional Greek sweets, liqueurs, and juices.

  • School Visit & Cultural Exchange: Project partners visited classrooms where young Greek students surprised them with handmade crafts, cards, and custom-made posters. Later, in the school’s event hall, the 5th-grade students performed a moving dramatization of the myth of Persephone, followed by traditional Greek songs and dances. The event was highly honored by the presence of the Mayor of Nea Filadelfeia, who warmly welcomed the participants.

  • The STEAM Workshop: In the school’s computer lab, students were divided into mixed-country teams. After answering a pre-survey on eco-friendly gardens, they coded and built a plant moisture sensor using BBC micro:bit microcontrollers. The students successfully tested their light-and-sound-alarm devices on laboratory flowerpots.

  • Seed Ball Activity: Moving outdoors, students used a mix of seeds, soil, clay, water, and pepper to mold dynamic “Seed Balls” into creative shapes (stars, hearts, and more). After a short drying period, the teams visited a local park to plant them—marking the symbolic beginning of our global Eco-Friendly Hobby Garden!

Day 2: Environmental Action & Cyanotype Art

The environmental focus deepened with a specialized ecology program at Tritsis Park, offered by the hosting school, where participants observed nature and evaluated ecological preservation strategies. In the afternoon, students engaged in a creative Cyanotype art activity back at the school, combining science and visual arts, followed by the official closing and certificate of attendance ceremony.

Day 3: Stepping Into Ancient History

No trip to Athens is complete without experiencing its historical roots. The hosting school organized a fully guided professional tour of the Acropolis Hill, including the iconic Parthenon, the Propylaea, the Temple of Athena Nike, and the Erechtheion. The group then visited the world-renowned Acropolis Museum. The evening concluded with an ancient paths walk from Monastiraki through Plaka and Anafiotika, ending with a traditional dinner filled with live Greek music.

Day 4: Sailing the Saronic Gulf

To strengthen intercultural bonds, participants embarked on a full-day cruise across the Saronic Gulf, exploring the picturesque and historic islands of Hydra, Aegina, and Poros, creating lifelong memories and international friendships.

Day 5: Experiential Learning at the National Garden

The mobility concluded with a specialized 3-hour experiential educational program at the National Garden in the heart of Athens. Led by professional staff, students engaged in outdoor activities that emphasized environmental mindfulness and active connection to natural ecosystems before departing for their home countries.

🌍 A Sustainable Future Together

The Athens mobility perfectly bridged the gap between technology (STEAM coding) and environmental preservation (Seed Balls & Hobby Gardens). By working in transnational teams, our students proved that while they speak different languages, they share the exact same language when it comes to protecting our planet.

We extend our deepest gratitude to the 8th Primary School of Nea Filadelfeia, its management, teachers, students, and local authorities for their flawless coordination, hospitality, and dedication to the LiveLobal vision.

Stay tuned for updates on our upcoming project phases and upcoming project mobilities!
